The best thing Capcom announced at their TGS press conference was without a doubt... Dead Rising: Case West.
But second to that, I'd have to say DMC, developed by Ninja Theory as part of Capcom's increased focus on western development talent (Dead Rising 2 and uh... Bionic Commando being notable examples). All that's been revealed so far is a single trailer and some press screenshots. The most notable aspect of what little information we have, however, is that Dante (who is not even really that Dante) has been given a pretty significant redesign.
Cue internet backlash in 3, 2, 1...
no, no, no, no, no!!!!!! Everything that we loved that made the Dante we know is now gone! I don't mind a reboot, but damn, there was nothing wrong with Dante! I hope they see how much they botched it up and this never sees the light of day. I didn't think they could do worse than DMC2........I was severely wrong. Who was the idiot that though DMC needed a reboot?!!!!!!
if ur gonna change the character style atleast make it look good.. shuda made him look like ichigo from bleach or some with the long hair or some or just use the old dante ( the real dante we all love) and change him up a bit make him look even more bad ass or some but this is just piss poor but i will wait and see if this game has potential
You would swear that the people who have to make the final call in shit like this being released are a board of ding-bat monkeys in a suit. That trailer look like ass to the fifth power....as far as DMC goes. And that does not look like any for of Dante. Also...wasn't DMC3 Dante THE YOUNG VERSION of DANTE! Great Capcom... although I am still waiting for actual gameplay, you should atleast have a righteous trailer to make fans and new comers excited for that bloody title... now you have me a DMC fan, not feeling the day one spirit I normally have for this title. Ninja Theory?.....!! Beautiful, just effin beautiful.
When did Devil May Cry ever need a reboot?? Not too happy about a reboot, the old way will always be the real dante to me. I feel like capcom betrayed the series now, i hate change..Oh internet, I love you.
Most of the ire seems to be directed at the protaginist's new look, which abandons the iconic white hair of Old Dante for the trendy black fringe of New Dante. Thus logically, says the internet, we can only assume Dante is now an 'emo', or a 'fag', or has a variety of other negative personality traits derived from his appearance.
What people are ignoring (once again) is that what we know about the game is limited to precisely 4 aspects:
- We have a basic idea of the art direction;
- It's a continuity 'reboot';
- Dante looks different;
- And finally, a developer who has proven themselves to be at least competent is at the helm. A qualification that even Blue Castle lacked when they were first handed the keys to Dead Rising 2, which, if Case Zero is any indication, stands to be excellent.
I remember liking the first game on the PS2, but quickly lost interest in the series after that. I found that as the series went on it became increasingly impenetrable for a casual fan, so I stopped putting up with it and played something else instead. I am not opposed to Devil May Cry in concept: I think anyone can understand the ludicrous power fantasy it represents; I am only opposed to it's previous execution. Let's wait and see of Ninja Theory can get that right.
